A way to go for Electric Vehicles in Pakistan, charging stations at motorways being installed

Minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry announced during the signing of MoU with UK-Based EGV for the assembly of electric buses in Pakistan that the government would build charging stations for vehicles on all motorways.

During the ceremony, Mr Ch expressed his desire for Pakistan to embrace advanced technology like this as it was imperative to meet the nations contemporary challenges

He further explained that Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi will launch a campaign to run electric busses.

He declared that in the next 10 years 40% of all public busses in Pakistan would be switched to electricity. In addition, he clarified that the entire motorway will be switched to an electric vehicle charging facility in the next 2-3 year.

Three months ago PSO installed the first EV charging station in Islamabad. Federal Minister for the power division Omar Ayub Khan told the media at the time of the inauguration that the government plans 24 electric vehicle charging stations across the country.

The recent MoU with EGV coupled with the government plans to provide a charging station for electric vehicles across all national highways is very welcoming news for the future of the region.
